OrthoK Overnight Contact Lenses - Contact Lenses for Myopia
Orthokeratology can also be known as Ortho K or Overnight Vision Correction. The treatment consists of specially designed rigid gas permeable contact lenses which are worn at night only.
What is Orthokeratology?
Orthokeratology can also be known as Ortho K or Overnight Vision Correction. The treatment consists of specially designed rigid gas permeable contact lenses which are worn at night only.
These lenses reshape the cornea overnight to allow the wearer to see clearly during the day and must be worn every night to maintain this clear vision. This treatment is for myopic (short-sighted) and astigmatic prescriptions within a certain power range.
Ortho K is particularly good for young people with myopic (short-sighted) prescriptions, as it has been proven to limit the progression of this short-sightedness. It is also ideal for individuals who do not like using glasses and contact lenses – either for reasons of comfort or convenience and is great for people who have considered laser surgery but who do not want the risk associated with a permanent procedure.
How Do I Know I Am Eligible for Orthokeratology?
In order to assess eligibility, it is important that an eye examination has been performed within the last 3 months, to ensure that your prescription falls within the correct range.
What Does an Ortho-k Fitting Include?
The first appointment includes a full anterior eye health assessment and a refraction analysis, after which a map of the corneal surface is taken by our state-of-the-art Corneal Topographer. This corneal map allows our specialist clinician to see the exact shape of the whole cornea, allowing a completely bespoke contact lens to be designed.
